Stress-Free Family Photos

As a Newton, KS family photographer, my goal is for us to have FUN! I believe we will get the most natural, beautiful smiles and expressions from your family if everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. So, I do everything in my power to make sure everyone is having a good time! With littles, I use my never-ending patience with them as they warm up to me and my camera. We play games with fun prompts, and I let them lead our session. If they aren’t into one game or prompt, we move on and keep trying different things until we get those smiles!

With teens and parents who also don’t always enjoy being in front of the camera, I will be cracking jokes and keeping things light. I truly want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible, so we take our time as I look for sweet and simple connections between you.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have many outdoor location ideas throughout the central Kansas area, places like Dyck Arboretum in Hesston, Harvey County East Lake, and Pawnee Prairie Park and Sedgwick County Park in Wichita. Studio family photos are always an option, and great for bad weather days. I can also come to you if you have a beautiful property where you’d like to take photos. I’m always up for an adventure!

I have started a Client Closet with dresses for mamas! Most of them are flowy and flattering on many body types. You are welcome to try some on during our consultation, but if I don’t have the perfect dress for your session, we can discuss what you can look for. We will discuss color schemes and what the rest of the family should wear too. I’m always available for further consulting too, feel free to send me photos of your options and I’m happy to advise!

Some kiddos take a little bit longer to warm up to the camera. I give them space and gentle guidance until we find a game or activity that makes them light up, then we get those gorgeous natural smiles. I always recommend the parents don’t push them to participate either, as that can result in less fun and smiles. If they want to run for a second to take a break, we will be patient and continue shooting. Once they see how much fun we are having, they will want to join in!

I also have a great deal of Photoshop experience, so if I need to put two (or five) photos together to get everyone’s best looks in one image, I can! I do that all the time.
